Can I register without a team?

Teams can have 1-6 members. You are encouraged to recruit friends or colleagues to join the competition. 

Who needs to register?

Teams, team mentors, event mentors and guests must register! 

What is the maximum amount of members per team?

The teams can have up to six members. 

Do I have to be a software developer/architect to participate?

No, the teams will consist of students (K-12 & college), professionals and experts in any industry that will allow your team to create the best possible application or solution.

Do you provide space for the teams to work?

The teams will be provided space to work  from 1:00 pm on Friday afternoon through Saturday morning at noon. Team must work in the venue the majority of the time to qualify for the judging round.

I need accommodations. Which hotel should I use?

The best accomodations would be the Hilton Garden Inn - Cajundome in the UL Lafayette Research Park. Please see Travel & Lodging

Will there be a student prize again this year? What are the criteria?

Middle and high school students are invited to participate, as well as, college students. The majority of the team members must be students to win this prize. Other prizes include First Place and Team Favorite.


What platform should be used to find a solution?

You can use any platform you chose.

How much code are participants allowed to pre-make?

The expectation is that judges will be looking for a solution that was created in the challenge timeframe. 

What framework is allowed?

You are allowed to use any framework or platform that you chose.

What equipment should my team bring?

Please bring all computer equipement, power strips and extension cords needed to work on your project. You will also need any adapter to plug into a windows desktop computer for the final presentation.

The  annual CajunCodeFest Summit and Challenge, hosted by the Center for Business & Information Technologies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, is April 13 & 14, 2018. The  events focus on on a new healthcare theme each year. The summit is open to the public and the challenge is open to all students and professionals with an innovative spirit. Teams use data to build apps and tools addressing the opioid epidemic to win cash, prizes and bragging rights.
